A highlight of the Ship’s visitor season, the Summer Fayre offers fun for all the family, and is absolutely FREE to enter!
There will be lots going on throughout the day, from craft workshops and demonstrations to family activities.
Refreshments will be on sale, and visitors can also take a look around the ship centre to learn more about the history of what has been described as the world’s largest 3D jigsaw puzzle.
The programme for the day includes:
- Musical performances from Bois y Bryn Sea Shanty Choir, Katie Bachelor, and the Canu Casnewydd Choir
- A performance from Cobblers Awl Clog Dancing
- Kid’s craft activities
- Traditional craft workshops including willow weaving, woodworking and ropemaking
- Demonstrations of medieval trades such as blacksmith, fletcher and leatherworker
- The Nautical Archaeology Society will be demonstrating how they use underwater robots in their work
- Tours of the timber stores, where visitors can get up close to pieces of the ship
There will also be lots of local charities, community organisations and local history groups in attendance.
“Last year’s event saw around 1,600 people join us to explore medieval life, and we’re hoping for an even bigger turnout on Saturday!”
If you can’t make it, then fear not, as you still have plenty of time to visit the ship centre during its opening season.
The centre, which is on Queensway Meadows Industrial Estate, is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10am-4pm until Saturday 2 November.
